The study aims at applying electronic technology to museums by taking Chi Mei Museum of Taiwan as research object. Providing insufficient knowledge of art pieces is the key for Chi Mei Museum finding difficult to increase the numbers of visitors. One of the main reasons is that the museum is unable to employ work force to provide tour guiding service. Besides, low willingness of renting audio tour guide also topped the list of low visiting rate. Reasons include unwillingness to pay renting fee, less interaction with users, user-unfriendly to the deaf, etc. Therefore, I believe that multimedia technology can be applied to museum service. The study will strive for creating a friendly interactive interface for tour guiding by using computer software such as, Windows Phone, Flash, C#, and panoramic photography. With QR Codes technology, contents about museum objects are stored in back-end server. As the mobile device installed quickmark software taking a picture of QR Code, quickmark code reader instantly decodes it and pass the data back via wireless network. What museums need is to set up the internal network, while visitors can download the free software and enjoy exhibits interactively with their own devices. Through the study, I hope that arts can be closer to the public and foster people to love arts.
