This thesis proposes a single-phase full-bridge converter with energy regeneration and adjustable power factor. Based on a generalized zero vector technique and dead-band control the converter combines a single-phase boost rectifier and a buck converter to form a novel single-stage converter of AC to DC. The converter has not only energy regeneration but also power factor improvement advantages. To reduce harmonic current and improve power factor of AC utility, the proposed system uses a kind of current mode feedback control which detects output voltage and AC utility current. Furthermore, both DC and small signal model for the proposed converter are established to obtain transfer function of the system. Finally, experimental and simulated results with VisSim are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
