The study of this thesis is based on the increasing quality required of the parts applied in the automotive industry. So far, heat treatment furnace temperature required is the most important parameter before the quenching process to satisfy the demanded temperature range. Therefore, the temperature and time of processing in heat treatment furnace needed to be controlled, not just consider the final mechanical characteristics of the products. Thus, learn to measure and control the temperature in the furnace is an important task. In this thesis,the effects of heater distribution, workpiece and thermocouple position to the heating performance in the heat treatment furnace are studied.The COMSOL simulation software is applied to analyze the temperature distribution. Some experiments are proceeded to verify the simulations for an optimum set of parameters to improve the design of heat treatment furnace.
