本土熱血: 近年台灣電影中鄉土與青少年的矛盾尋索

Local Young Blood: A Study of Nativism and Adolescence in Recent Taiwanese Films

摘要


自1990年代及2000年扁政府執政後,台灣主體意識愈趨成為主流,2008年《海角七號》更以在地主題創下5.3億的票房奇蹟,帶動傳統民俗文化等鄉土主題再受電影產業重視,青/少年也因所代表的熱血、奮鬥魅力及自我掙扎的戲劇張力,廣被運用與鄉土主題的復興、轉變歷程互相輝映。本研究即將結合文本與產業的觀察,探討2008年以來台灣電影中鄉土與青少年成長的再現轉變及其社會文化意義。 在台灣長久歷史文化發展中,鄉土與青少年主題在各年代皆有不同樣貌,及至近年則因社會文化與產業的轉變讓商業考量愈趨重要,創作者普遍將青少年與鄉土主題正面結合再現,青少年成長的矛盾與當代鄉土現狀相互輝映-冀望著復興(成長)與創新,卻仍身處困惑及認同趨尋,鄉土也在奮鬥過程中成為引領青少年的趨動目標,繼而讓兩者共同與當前社會的本土復興風潮連結。然而,因近年電影產業越發著重行銷策略與票房考量,敘事多著重通俗與戲劇性,對鄉土僅簡化強調人情味及草根志氣等歡快價值,對青少年也僅著重其正向轉變意義,當代鄉土與青少年雖廣被結合呈現,卻被持續簡化,愈形限縮至本土熱血的空洞民族精神圖像。

The thesis aims to discuss nativism and adolescence subjects’ representation in recent Taiwanese films, and explore the connected social and cultural significance. Since 1990s and former President Chen Shui-bian’s localization policies, Taiwanese identity has increasingly become the mainstream, leading local-story film “Cape No. 7” to make over 530 million’s record-breaking box-office performance in 2008. Since the miraculous success, Taiwanese film industry and creators has started to attach more importance to nativism subjects and combine teenagers’ growth route to reflect the revival of nativism subjects, strongly influenced and benefited by the rising Taiwanese identity till now. Observing the past creations, we can see that nativism and adolescence subjects have experienced frequent changes throughout Taiwanese historical development. Until recent years, because of the change of the society and industrial environment, profit considerations become more important and lead nativism and adolescence subjects often combined together to reflect positive development and meanings. In recent films, teenagers and native cultures are often presented as living in identity confusion but hoping for revival (growth), sharing similar difficulties. Through their struggle and success, native cultures become teenagers’ leading power and further correspond to the local revival expectations in current society. However, because of the strong emphasis on commercial considerations and popularity, most recent films only focus on nativism and adolescence subjects’ positive sides like local people’s hospitality, ambitions and teenagers’ positive growth. Though the two subjects are combined and presented more frequently in recent years, they are getting more and more simplified, turning into an empty Nationalism symbol of local young blood.
