The purpose of this study was to investigate the reasons of elementary school teachers’ retirement, their planning for retirement life and how do they adapt retirement life style. Qualitative methods, especially depth semi-structured interviews, were applied to collecting and analyzing portfolios from eight elementary school retired teachers. The major results of this study were as following: 1. The reasons of elementary school teacher’s retirement were multivalent and interweaved. 2. Retirement life planning was not the only one factor that affect the qualities of life style. 3. Most of the retired elementary school teachers made good adaptation to their life style. 4. The retired elementary school teachers made good adaptation to their life style Suggestions of this study were raised including four aspects:(1) to our government and schools; (2) to those who preparing for retirement; (3) to studying in the future.
