Electronic materials play an important role in the semiconductor manufacturing processes. The original producing technologies of electronic materials are mainly mastered by foreign companies from Europe, America and Japan. The technical barriers of such producing technologies are extremely high and also blocked by proprietary techniques and/or patents. Nevertheless, as the semiconductor business environment becomes mature and less profitable, Taiwan semiconductor companies are also experiencing same challenges. In the meantime the demand of high quality materials, stability of supply, real time services, co-work with customers for product development associate with lower cost is still getting higher. To deal with such fierce competition market, cooperate needs to understand what the position it possesses in this electronic material industry and how to keep the sustainable competition advantage. In this study, we analyzed current situation of electronic material companies in semiconductor industry and the fussy relationship of cooperation and competition between chemical system houses and chemical material suppliers. Afterward this study adopted the theoretical perspective of Value-Net to explore how the electronic material vendors balance their positions between Supplier, Competitor, Customer, Complementor to develop long-term competitive strategies, how to keep the core value of corporate and maximize the competitiveness and how to achieve sustainable success.
