閱讀媒介對國民中學低視力學生閱讀成效之研究

摘要


閱讀為學習之基礎,要培養低視力學生的閱讀能力,首要的工作就是挑選適當的閱讀媒介。本研究主要探討國中低視力學生使用三種不同閱讀媒介(大字體教材、放大鏡和擴視機)的閱讀成效,以及選用偏好閱讀媒介後,閱讀成效是否有提升。本研究採用單一個案研究法之交替介入設計,研究參與者為二位國中低視力學生,蒐集其閱讀速度與閱讀正確度的數據,並利用曲線圖及目視分析進行資料處理與分析。最後,對研究參與者進行半結構式訪談,以了解其對閱讀媒介的使用感受及意願。 本研究發現有三點: 一、 閱讀媒介的使用有助於提升研究參與者的閱讀成效,其關鍵在適當的閱讀媒介教學及充分的練習。 二、 所有的研究參與者使用光學輔具的閱讀成效優於大字體教材。 三、 使用偏好閱讀媒介後,所有的研究參與者閱讀成效皆有穩定提升,且也提高使用閱讀媒介的意願。 綜合上述,研究者建議視障教育人員應制定閱讀媒介評量標準化程序,包含提供充分的閱讀媒介教學及練習,以及使用偏好閱讀媒介的機會,低視力學生才能選擇合適的閱讀媒介,閱讀成效將有望提升。

The ability to read is the foundation of learning. To cultivate the reading ability of students with low vision, the priority is to select reading media that fit best to the conditions of their visions as well as their current reading performances. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three reading media (large prints, a magnifier and a video magnifier) on enhancing reading performances of junior high school students with low vision and whether students had better performances while using their preferred reading media. I adopted a single-case research method with an alternating treatment design, and recruited two students with low visions to participate in this study. Data on reading speeds and accuracies were collected and further analyzed by using line charts and visual analysis. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted on the participants in order to know their perceptions of using reading media. Major findings were as follows: (a) all participants improved their reading performances after using reading media and the key to success was to have proper instruction and sufficient practices on how to use those media; (b) all participants had better reading performances while using optical devices rather than using large prints; and (c) after using their preferred reading media, the reading performances of all participants improved steadily and their willingness to use the media was also increased. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that educators of students with visual impairments should develop a standardized procedure for reading media assessment, including the provision of adequate instruction and sufficient drills as well as opportunities for using their preferred media.
