近年來的筆記型電腦(NB)市場快速成長,對於NB業者而言,無不利用其研發來建構公司的永續發展,尤以NB品牌廠商上,呈現出多變化的市占率表現,除了成本及併購策略外,內部研發仍是品牌廠商在永續經營的成功要件。本研究即針對NB品牌廠商進行專利組合分析,分別進行公司層級分析及技術層級分析來探討不同競爭公司間專利地位的表現情形及技術成長對比的競爭態勢。研究結果顯示專利申請在最後幾年呈現出銳減的情形,由此判斷品牌廠商在NB研發上已步入成熟期,技術可能朝向跳躍式的創新發展,並顯示大部分的專利仍屬美日等廠商所擁有。在公司層級方面,IBM及惠普在相對專利產出值、專利活動及專利品質都有不錯的表現,為所有廠商中表現最好,屬於積極型的技術領導者。在技術層級方面,萃取出品牌廠商所屬之三大主流技術,第一為記憶影像存取技術,並有最好的潛力率,可考慮進行相關之研發投入,第二為電子與通信資料處理技術,呈現負成長的情形,屬較無潛力之技術領域,第三為半導體多工傳輸技術,具有不錯的成長率及潛力率,意謂著筆記型電腦在特性上朝向輕、薄及散熱性佳的方向發展,而IBM及惠普在三大主流技術上展現出不錯的專利規模及技術能力。因此透過定期檢視競爭公司的專利組合表現,以了解競爭公司間在專利研發上的競爭態勢,對於公司未來的技術發展策略上將有所助益。
In recent years, there comes boosted development in notebook computer market. According to notebook companies, they have to develop their R&D to their sustainability in competition, especially brand NB companies with constantly changing position in their market share rate. Therefore, besides the strategy in costing down and acquisitions with other companies, interior R&D is still the key to sustainable competitive advantage.This paper is to use portfolio analysis method investigating brand NB companies in company-level and technology-level analysis, respectively to evaluate their performances of patent position and competition appreanances in mainstream technologies. The results showed there is sharply decreases in the last few years, judging that the whole brand companies in R&D are forward into period of mature, meaning development of technology in brand NB industry will become radical and drastic and also found most patents are owned by American and Japanese brand companies. In company-level, IBM and HP have good performances in company-level analysis, belonging the role of active technology leader. In technology-level, we extract three mainstream technologies belonging to brand companies. The first one is memory and image retrieving technology with good performance of technology attractiveness, which could take R&D investment into consideration. The second one is electronic and communication data processing technology with negative growth in recent years, presenting not much more attractive and potential of three mainstream technologies and illustrating this technology being the mature period. The third one is semiconductor multifunctional transmitting technology with good RGR and RDGR performances, explaining the property of NB R&D planning towards light, thin and heat dissipation direction. Both IBM and HP companies reveal good patent scale and technology ability in three mainstream technologies.
