This study examines the export performance of the sugar industry in Central America. This industry is an important source of employment and foreign exchange for the region. The sugar export rank is top six in the region. The research use secondary and primary data to study the export performance, which is measured by four subdimensions. They are export sales, export profit, change in sales, and change in profit. As a secondary data it was used any relevant material related to the industry in the region. The export ratio for the region in the period from the production year of 1993/94-2007/08 is on average 56% of the total sugar produced. The market destination of the sugar exported from the region covers all the regions of the world. The survey result also confirms a high level of export involvement, which is measured by the ratio of export volume to production, in Guatemala.
