Due to the needs of a well-established computerized information system, knowledge management is major employed in hi-tech industry, not in traditional industry. This thesis, taking stamping die design as an example, investigates the typology of the knowledge required in die design. Additionally, based upon proposes a series of document management activities the knowledge spiral theory, this report to become a core of knowledge management. The result indicates as follows. The activities, in the dimension of combination being used for knowledge planning, consist of book data filing, creating linkages to external experts and internet resources. In the dimension of internalization, they comprise new-employee trainings, annual employee training, and off-the-job training. Pre-design meetings, design review meetings, design change meetings, design outcome meetings, and weekly meetings are be carried out to form socialization. Finally, stipulate the way of writing and the key-points of the meeting records and the training feedbacks, and to establish a database for the products and the dies in the externalization phase.
