吸聞木材精油對腦電圖反應影響之探討

Effect of Smelling Wood Essential Oils on the Electroencephalogram Responses

摘要


本研究探討芳樟(Cinnamomum camphora (L.) J. Presl subsp. formosana var. oxidentalis subvar. linaloola)、臺灣扁柏(Chamaecyparis obtusa Sieb. et Zuec. var. formosana (Hayata) Rehder)與杉木(Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb. ) Hook)木材精油氣味對人體及腦電圖的影響,進一步了解吸聞木質環境中木材精油與人體的生理及心理反應之關係。期望可作為未來相關商品開發、環境及室內設計運用之參考依據。本研究之受試者共33名(男性16名,女性17名),結果如下: 木材精油氣味對人體生理反應之收縮壓、舒張壓及脈搏均具有影響,其中三種精油條件皆以收縮壓較顯著,且芳樟精油氣味對血壓影響較臺灣扁柏與杉木精油明顯。在木材精油氣味對算數測驗時間之影響方面,吸聞三種木材精油中,男女性皆有改善完成算數測驗所需時間之趨勢,且以男性非木材相關領域最為顯著。 受試者對木材精油氣味的感受方面,三種樹種均不具人工香精味,而具天然木材味;具刺鼻味且較不喜歡者為芳樟木材精油;具清爽度者為臺灣扁柏木材精油;具喜歡程度者為杉木木材精油。 木材精油氣味對α波(8-14 Hz)腦波功率之影響,皆為下降趨勢,男性吸聞杉木精油功率下降較女性大,女性吸聞芳樟與臺灣扁柏精油功率下降較大;非木材相關領域受試者吸聞三種木材精油後功率下降皆較木材相關領域受試者為大。 木材精油氣味對β波(14-30 Hz)腦波功率之影響,在男性受試者之F3、F4、C3、C4部位皆為增加趨勢,且吸聞芳樟精油之效果最為顯著,女性受試者吸聞三種木材精油氣味後皆為下降趨勢;木材相關領域受試者在額葉與中央部位為增加趨勢,非木材相關領域男性受試者吸聞芳樟木材精油氣味,在O1部位之β波功率增加幅度最大。 木材精油氣味對θ波(4-8 Hz)腦波功率之影響方面,以吸聞杉木木材精油氣味女性受試者之P3、P4、O1、O2、T5功率下降較大,男性受試者F3、F4則功率增加較大;木材相關領域受試者吸聞杉木木材精油氣味,在F3、F4、C3、C4部位有增加趨勢。

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of wood essential oil odor from Linalool (Cinnamomum camphora (L.) J. Presl subsp. formosana var. oxidentalis subvar. linaloola), Taiwan yellow cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa Sieb. et Zuec. var. formosana (Hayata) Rehder) and China fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb. ) Hook) on human EEG, and to find the relations between wood essential oil odor environment and human physiological and psychological responses. Based on the physiological and psychological responses, it is expected certain benefits for developing friendly commercial products, relaxing environments, and providing pleasant interior design options. The subjects of this study were 33 (male 16, female 17), and the results were as follows: Three wood essential oil odors have effects on physiological reactions of systolic, diastolic and puls, and more significant effect was found in systolic blood pressure. Linalool wood essential oil odor affects blood pressure more significantly than both Taiwan yellow cypress and China fir essential oil odors. The effect of wood essential oil odor on concentration testing time showed that both male and female could reduce completing time for the test, and the most significant improvement was found with the male not major in wood field. In the case of sensory sensibility to the wood essential oil odor, three kinds of wood essential oil odor an incurred the least artificial smell responses and the most natural wood smell responses. The subjects had the most sting responses and less favorite responses on Linalool wood essential oil. The results also indicated the most refreshing responses toTaiwan yellow cypress essential oil and the most favorite responses to China fir essential oil. The effect of wood essential oil odor on α activities showed a decreasing trend, the power of the α activities for male smelling Chinese fir essential oil odor decrease more than that of female. A greater decrease in α activity was found in female smelling Taiwan yellow cypress and China fir essential oil odor. The subjects not major in wood field showed a greater decrease in α activity than the subjects major in wood field. In the case of the effects of wood essential oil odor on the β activities, it showed an increasing trend for the male at F3, F4, C3, C4, and the most significant effect was found when smelling Linalool wood essential oil, while the female showed a decreasing trend in the β activities when smelling three wood essential oil odors. The subjects who major in wood field showed an increasing tend of β activity at the frontal and central regions. The male who do not major in wood field showed the highest increase in the power of β activity at the O1 region when smelling the Linalool wood essential oil odor. In the case of effect of wood essential oil odor on the θ activities, the female at P3, P4, O1, O2 and T5 showed a greater decreasing trend while the male at F3 and F4 showed a greater increasing trend. The subjects who major in wood field showed an increasing trend of the θ activities at the F3, F4, C3 and C4 regions when smelling China fir essential oil odor.
