「國際化英語課程」對大學生英語聽說能力與學習動機之成效分析

摘要


論文摘要: 高等教育積極推動國際化課程,本研究透過獨立的非正式課程教學培養國際學生與本國籍學生基本英語口語表達能力。為探討「國際化英語課程」對大學生英語聽說能力與學習動機之成效,本研究使用單組前後測設計(one-group pretest-posttest design)之個案研究法,以「半結構式訪談」、「英語口說能力測驗」、「英語聽力能力測驗」,與「ARCS動機五點量表」對本國南部某技職大專校院共計30名大學生進行研究。課程主軸包括以英語為國際通用語(ELF)實施主題式課程內容與學生本位課程設計以提升學生英語聽說能力學習成效和學習動機。經由英語聽說能力前後測驗讓研究者能客觀得知其學習成效,並透過訪談不同程度學習成就的學生以了解學習動機之變化。 結果顯示,學生英語聽說能力皆有顯著進步,學生整體適應良好,足見此課程對於提升英語聽說能力具有良好成效,期本研究能為語言教學領域帶來嶄新教學模式與應用。 關鍵詞:英語聽說能力、全英語課程、大學生

Abstract: Higher education institutions actively promote international courses, thus in this research, an independent informal course teaching was used to cultivate the basic oral English skills of international and native students. To explore the effectiveness analysis of internationalized English course on college students' English listening and speaking ability and learning motivation, this study used the one-group pretest-posttest design supplemented with a case study as its research approach. Semi-structured interviews, combined with English speaking test, English Listening test, and ARCS Likert Scale were employed to study 30 students from a university of science and technology in Taiwan. The main course of the curriculum included English as its lingua franca, ELF, thematic curriculum content, student-based curriculum design, and curriculum goals to improve students' English listening and speaking skills, learning motivation, and to enhance teacher-student interaction. Through the English listening and speaking pretest and posttest, the researchers can objectively know the effectiveness of their course. The interviews with the students are conducted to adjust the course content and to better understand the learning situation. The result shows that students’ English listening and speaking skills have significantly improved after the course. Although students feel that there is still some room for improvement in their English-speaking ability, they have adapted well overall. This shows that this course has good results in improving the students’ oral and listening skills in the English language. This research could bring a new teaching model and applications in the language teaching field.
