隱喻應用在台灣當代社會類型人物之圖像創作

摘要

本創作研究將運用符號學的「隱喻」，描繪當代台灣較具特色的職業類型人物，包括：拾荒老人、屠夫、檳榔西施、警察、算命先生、政客、電子花車女郎、記者、廟祝等，並探討其時代背景及社會的深層意義，經由學理論述、社會觀察與創作實踐，總結如下：
1.透過索緒爾符號體系中的符號具(signifier)和符號義(signified)與系譜軸（paradigms）和毗鄰軸（syntagm）兩軸分析，可將作品訊息組成創作元素，並形成符碼系統，幫助訂定創作方向、作品呈現與解讀。
2.運用羅蘭．巴特提出的明示義與隱含義(denotation and connotation)，提供解讀符號的方式，加強作品表面傳達的訊息與背後隱藏的隱含義、迷思或意識形態等文化、社會的意義連結。
3.攝影、數位影像技術與傳統手繪，這三種工具的交替使用，可增進圖像創作的豐富表現，並呈現新的面貌。

This thesis is going to use the metaphor of symbology to depict the modern Taiwanese People in certain occupations. Example character types are as follow: elderly people who pick recycle goods for living, butcher, betel nut girl, policy officer, fortune teller, politician, show girl on the entertaining bus, journalist and temple host. This thesis is also going to discuss the meaning of the culture background of above examples. Through theories, actual observations, and creations, the conclusion is as follow:
1.By using signifier and signified of Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiology theory and analysis of paradigms and syntagm, we can compose a creation element from the messages and form a symbol system. This can help us to decide the aspect, presentation and meaning of our creation.
2.Using Roland Barthes’s denotation and connotation to provide methods to translate the symbols. Enhancing the explicit and implicit meanings of the artworks, myth, subculture and social connections.
3.Using photography, digital image technology and traditional hand painting to enhance the presentation of the image creation and give it a new look.
