Following the drastic growth of syndicated loan market, the transactional bank lending has catch up the relationship bank lending from behind and become another major corporate financing method in the bank loan market. This study investigates the relationship between transactional lending and relationship lending from the viewpoint of U.S. public corporations. The main empirical results find that the relationship between these two lending type is affected by the business cycle and contract maturity.
