In a continuously changing environment, many companies promote Total Productive Management (TPM) system to increase their competitiveness and productivity. The most popular index of measuring equipment performance for TPM is the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Other indices of measuring equipment performance, such as overall weighted equipment effectiveness (OWEE), overall equipment cost loss (OECL), and overall equipment and quality cost loss (OEQCL), are developed to improve the shortages of OEE. In this research, first, the four indices of measuring equipment performance (OEE, OWEE, OECL, and OEQCL) are compared. Second, the four indices of equipment performance are calculated and compared, and then the improvement order is prioritized for a case company. Finally, based on the data provided by the case company, a simulation is performed to study the influence of factors of time loss and cost loss to the four indices of equipment performance. This study found that the most important factor which affects OEE and OWEE is the time loss caused by quality issue; for OECL and OEQCL, the most important factor is the quality cost loss. Results obtained from the research can provide the case company a guideline in selecting suitable index of equipment performance. Moreover, the case company can focus on the most important factor found in this research to improve the equipment performance.
