This study explores the state of toddlers’ parents when choosing a daycare center. The purpose of this study is to gain an insight into the daycare service selection process and the state of toddlers’ parents in parenting. The qualitative research method was adopted, with four toddlers’ mothers and two toddlers’ fathers whose toddlers are under the care of three licensed private daycare centers located in different parts of Taichung City as the research participants. Data was collected though in-depth interviews, and the contents were converted into text for compilation through coding. The conclusions obtained are summarized as follows: 1. There four factors contributing to toddler parents’ daycare needs include: family financial constraints, inability to provide daycare support at home, personal factors of the mother, and the search for professional daycare. 2. The three daycare channel search methods adopted by toddlers’ parents include: internal search through personal social networking, external search through online search, and site search through search in the vicinity. 3. The parents that choose daycare centers give more recognition to daycare centers than to babysitters; they also hold feelings of distrust towards babysitters. 4. Nine daycare factors are considered by toddlers’ parents, including: neat and tidy environment, teacher experience and quality, toddler programs, peer interaction and feelings towards daycare, the reasonability of daycare expenses, job (distance and daycare delivery time needs), open and transparent security mechanism, and legitimately licensed institutions. 5. As for toddler parents’ parenting beliefs, they take on the “lenient and strict” parenting style, including open-minded and highly caring parenting beliefs as well as high-standard discipline. 6. Between a toddler’s mother and father, the mother plays the main role in parenting. Both parents also work with each other, where one of them becomes the strict one and the other the more lenient one. In addition, the toddlers’ parents also play mutually supportive roles in parenting and in the handling of house chores. 7. Daycare centers cater to toddlers’ parents in two areas: substantial care assistance and professional services. Finally, reflections and recommendations were proposed based on the research results, which shall serve as a reference for daycare centers, toddlers’ parents, and relevant follow-up researchers.
