舊烏日火車站附近地區更新計畫

摘要

在當代的社會中，城市之間的移動速度不僅是衡量現代化的指標，也是定義一個國家的經濟指標和民生指標的重要依據。這是因為高速的移動可以帶來更大的經濟效益，不管是在經濟上、運輸上、或是旅遊的層面上，連帶的，時間也成為當代最重要的販賣產物之一。台灣雖然幅員不大，但因為地狹人稠，因而十分依賴現代化的交通設備。當今最先進的交通運輸即為2007年1月5日通車的台灣高速鐵路，全長345公里，貫穿了人口最密集的西部走廊，它不僅引動了另一種新型態的移動模式，也帶來了未來的新想像。
以位於台中市烏日區的台中高鐵站為例，高鐵的通車為這個邊陲城鄉開啓了城市發展的轉機，然而，通車已逾7年的高鐵卻沒有實現烏日人所期待的『烏日高鐵市』的新願景。目前，正在進行中的台中捷運綠線以及台鐵捷運化紅線為這個願景添加了新的動能，如何以舊烏日車站為核心，重新整合這些新的運輸設施，從而帶動舊烏日區的新發展，這是本設計論文所要探討的議題。

In today’s society, the transportation between cities is not only an indicator of modernization, but also a key basis to define the economic indicators and livelihood indicators of a country. The high-speed transportation can bring more economic benefits, whether in economy, transportation or tourism. Time also has become a sellable commodity. Taiwan has limited land and dense population, thus it relies on the modern transportation. The most advanced means of transportation in Taiwan is the Taiwan High-speed Railway (THSR), which began operation on January 5, 2007. With a length of 345km, it links the west corridor,where the population concentrates. The launch of the THSR has created a new transportation means, as well as vast imagination of future opportunities.
This study take the THSR Wurih Station in Taichung as an example. Although the station brought the opportunity for urbanization to this peripheral town, after seven years of operation, the THSR did not turn Wurih into a modern as expected by the local residents. At present, the green line of Taichung Rapid Transit System and the red line of Taiwan Railway Green Line are under construction to go through Wurih Station. Whether Wurih can be designed into a core station, and whether the integration of the new transportation facilities could bring new development to Wurih are the questions to be discussed in this paper.
