在現今瞬息萬變的時代,資訊科技的日新月異,網路及通訊不斷地創新改變,使得全球化、國際化似乎已形成一股不可抵擋的趨勢。但相對地,伴隨著企業全球化、國際化的競爭壓力下,及電子產品生命週期的縮短,台灣TFT-LCD面板產業正面臨嚴峻的考驗。 在面對國際競爭激烈的經營環境,近年來台灣TFT-LCD廠商紛紛以垂直整合的方式為其因應之道。透過垂直整合策略整合上游關鍵零組件及下游成品品牌、代工銷售的方式,擴大經濟規模、降低成本,進而強化成本優勢。同時,利用完整的產品供應鍊組合,提供客戶一次購足的服務;在產品上技術合作,將可以凸顯企業之競爭優勢,以達到提升整體經營績效之目的。 本研究透過台灣TFT-LCD面板產業的分析,以瞭解台灣TFT-LCD面板產業的競爭態勢,並藉由垂直整合案例之蒐集及與個案公司的深度訪談,從中瞭解台灣TFT-LCD面板產業運用垂直整合策略之現狀及與垂直整合上游關鍵零組件及下游成品品牌、代工銷售之動機。並透過市佔率及獲利能力等垂直整合策略的績效之指標加以衡量與分析,從中瞭解台灣TFT-LCD面板廠商透過垂直整合策略,有效利用上、下游互補優勢及資源整合的綜效,進一步探討垂直整合策略與經營績效的影響是否具有關聯性,分析結果顯示垂直整合的深度與廣度似乎與經營績效有正向關聯,因此本研究提出相關研究命題以待後續進一步的驗證。
In this rapidly changing world, the information technology advances quickly with each passing day, and the Internet as well as communication progress and innovate continuously. Improvements in information technology, internet and communication have markedly increased a firm’s capacity to manage operations o a global scale and then facilitate the globalization and internationalization. However, under the intense pressure of competition resulted from the globalization and internationalization of enterprises, and shortening of product’s life cycle, the Taiwan TFT-LCD manufacturers globally are facing the most severe challenge ever than before. In confronting the keen competition internationally in the operating environment, Taiwan TFT-LCD manufacturers generally adopt vertical integration strategy as responding policy. By vertical integration strategy –backward integration or forward integration or both, they expect to achieve the goal of expanding economic scale, reducing costs, and enhancing cost advantage. Moreover, they can offer client with one stop shopping service by employing complete products supply chain management. Besides, products manufacturing technology could be advanced through the cooperation of partners, and consequently the business performance would become better. By analyzing Taiwan TFT-LCD industry, this study could therefore understand the competition situation in Taiwan TFT-LCD panel industry, and explore the motivation and vertical integration strategy employed by Taiwan TFT-LCD manufactures through in-depth interviewing key managers of Taiwan TFT-LCD manufactures. Performance evaluation was also conducted by data collecting of secondary financial reporting and in-depth interviews with target companies. Relating vertical integration strategy to market share and profitability, this study found that vertical integration strategy may enhance firm performance. Taiwan TFT-LCD manufacturers could expand economic scale, reduce costs, develop new market, increase profits earning, and therefore enhance oneself competitive advantage by successfully applying vertical integration strategy. Therefore, this study suggested some propositions about the relationship between the depth and width of vertical integration and management performance.
