An aperture-coupled ring antenna is studied in this thesis. The antenna is coupled by a microstrip line through a uniquely designed slot configuration. The slot configuration contains a rectangular slot ring with four short branch slots protruding toward the center of the ring. By adjusting the slot length of the patch antenna, a wide axial-ratio bandwidth can be achieved. In summary, the antenna has a 10dB impedance bandwidth of 24% (2.25GHz ~ 2.86GHz), 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 16% (2.29GHz ~ 2.7GHz) and a gain of 6dBic from 2.33GHz to 2.67GHz.
