The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation among the behavior of using facebook, self-concept, real-world and Internet interpersonal relationship of junior high school students in Tainan city. The subjects were the seventh to ninth graders of 2012 academic year in Tainan city, those who were using facebook. The data were surveyed by means of cluster sampling and 770 valid questionnaires were collected. The gathered data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, canonical correlation and multiple regression analysis. The major findings of this study were: the main impact of the junior high school students’ real-world interpersonal relationship was self-concept. For example, the positive family self helped to improve the interaction with family and teachers, as well as the positive social self and physical self was helpful to promote the interaction with friends. However, the behavior of using facebook also had direct effect or indirect effect through the path of Internet interpersonal relationship on the real-world interpersonal relationship. For instance, the higher frequency of using facebook could directly or indirectly promote the interaction with friends. Besides, it was helpful to promote their interaction with friends and teachers when they inclined to use various functions of facebook. But when they particularly tended to use entertainment functions, it might reduce the interaction with family. Therefore, teachers can take advantage of facebook to promote their interaction with students. Furthermore, the parents should pay more attention to the parent-child interaction and the facebook using behavior of junior high school students, lest they indulge in the entertainment functions of facebook and reduces the interaction with family.
