面對金控潮流區域性銀行之競爭策略─以中部某區域性銀行為例

摘要

本論文研製之目的在探討區域性銀行面對金融控股公司競爭的威脅下所應研擬採行的競爭策略，並以質性研究中的個案研究為主要研究方法，針對特定銀行進行探討，經由對該銀行資料分析、與高階經營者深度訪談、實地參與組織運作觀察等方式進行研究，來了解銀行的功能、運作模式以及銀行產業的發展現況，同時分析該銀行現行策略、營運方針。
在競爭策略理論中，則運用Porter的產業五股競爭作用力，分析銀行產業現有競爭者、潛在競爭者、顧客議價能力、供應商議價能力及替代品威脅等五股力量之間的作用力強弱程度，藉以了解銀行產業的競爭狀態；在個案銀行分析上，則利用SWOT分析，探討個案銀行的內部優勢與劣勢，以及其外在所具有的機會與威脅，並以SWOT矩陣分析，歸納四種策略型態組合以及所應採行的一般競爭策略，以供個案銀行或面臨類似處境之區域性銀行在經營實務上策略擬定之參考。
本研究結果針對個案銀行提出以下建議：1.針對該銀行地理環境特性以採取專注於特定客戶群、產品線、地域市場之專精化策略，強化其區域性優勢2.加強服務品質的提升，創造具在地便利性之服務差異化形象3.加速推動建置標準化、低成本的新業務與作業流程，並揚棄以往過度保護表現欠佳行員的人事政策，同時引進新科技，加速自動化設備的建置與功能提升，以求進一步降低成本。

Banking industry in Taiwan is facing a restructuring process with the emergence of several gigantic financial holding companies as a result of consolidation. The purpose of this study is to analyze strategies of smaller regional banks under the stiff competition generated by these financial holding companies. A well-established regional bank in central Taiwan is chosen for this case study. This study utilized data collected from existing literature, in-depth interview with senior managers and onsite observation. By using SWOT matrix analysis and Five Forces analysis, this study found that the bank has its own competitive edge albeit surrounded by many larger financial institutions. In order to better position itself in this ever increasing competitive banking industry, the bank is recommended to do the followings:
1. Targeting on the special customer groups in regional market by providing tailored financial products.
2. Improving quality of service that emphasizes convenience with branch locations well spread in Central Taiwan and customer relations for over 50 years.
3. Reducing operation costs by establishing automatic system and laying off employees if necessary.
