Investigating the Impact of Informal Social Support on Life Satisfaction of Taiwanese Middle-aged and Elderly

摘要

本研究之目的是探討非正式支持社會對於中老年生活滿意度之影響。本研究以戶基護行網絡來反映非正式社會支持。採用行政院衛生署國民健康局所提供的「台灣地區中老年身心社會狀況長期追蹤調查系列」之第六波(2007)調查資料進行分析。調查之樣本數為3674人。在迴歸分析中發現，性別(女性)、有配偶子女、教育程度低、自覺健康經濟、及有情感支持者和有參與社團活動者都對中老年生活滿意度有顯著的關係。另外，戶基護航網絡第三圈對中老年人的生活滿意度有顯著正相關。表示，常聯絡親戚對老年人的生活滿意度有顯著影響。戶基護航網絡之完整性(總圈數)也對中老年人的生活滿意度有直接的影響。

This study is aimed to investigate the impact of informal social support on life satisfaction of Taiwanese middle-aged and the elderly. In this study, Household-based convoy is used as the indicator for informal social support system. The sixth wave of data “The health and living status of the middle-aged and the elderly,” which was collected by Bureau of Health Promotion, National Health Administration in 2007, is used for empirical analysis. In total, 3,674 cases who reside in community are included in this study. Our regression results show that female, with a spouse, with children, low education, good health, good economic status, and with emotional support all have a significant effect on life satisfaction.  In addition, the third circle of household-based convoy also has a positive significant effect, reflecting that frequent-contact relatives have a positive effect on respondents’ life satisfaction. We also find that the completeness (number of circles) of household-based convoy has a significant effect on life satisfaction.
