摘要

振興復健醫學中心創設於民國56年，是一個非營利的醫學機構，除手術及裝配支架、義肢酌收成本費外，患者的食宿、教育、職訓、復健治療等，全部免費。初期收治4至14歲的病童，自64年起逐漸將收治病人的年齡上限伸延至25歲。民國60年1月至70年12月止，住院病人共7,006人，男性3,873人(55%)、女性3,133人(45%)。11~15歲者有2,927人(42%)、6~10歲者1,838人(26%)、16~20歲者1,417人(20%)。34%的病人來自台北地區，13.5%的病人來自雲林；台南、嘉義、彰化、台中、高雄各有8~6%的病人。11年來共收治脊髓灰質炎5,821例(83%)、腦麻痺615例(8.8%)、大臀肌纖維孿縮190例(2.8%)共餘脊髓損傷、肌肉病變、先天性畸形、先天性髖關節脫臼、截肢、斜頸、運動傷害等共380例(5.4%)。在所有病人中，一側下肢肌肉麻痺最多，共有2,303例(32.9%)、兩側下肢肌肉麻痺者2,024例(28.9%)、兩側下肢並有軀幹肌肉麻痺者979例(14%)、一側下肢及軀幹肌肉麻痺者138例。兩側下肢及軀幹並有一側或兩側上肢肌肉麻痺者298例。

Cheng Hsin Rehabilitation and Medical Center was established in 1967. It is a nonprofit organization. All patients are given free board, loding, education and proper therapeutic assistance. Only civilian patients are charged with the actual cost of materials for surgery, braces and other handicapped aids. Dependents of Army forces are free from all the charges. From 1971 to 1981.there were 7006 cases being treated in Cheng Hsin, 3873 (55%) patients were male, 313 (45%)were Female patients, 2927 (42%) patients belonged to 11-15 years old, 1838 (26%) were 6-10 years of age,1417 (20%) were 16-20 years old. 34% of patients came from the northen part of Taiwan. 13.5% from Unlin while 8-6% refered from Tainan, Chiayi Changhua, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Within 11 years, 5821 (83%) cases of poliomyelitis were treated in this center. Cerebral palsy and Fibrosis of gluteals muscle represented 88% and 2.8% respectively, the rest 5.4% included spinal injury, myopathy, congenital deformity, congenital hip dislocation, amputation etc. As for muscle paralysis unilateral lower extremity was the higest one (32.9%) bilateral lower extremities were 2024 (28.9%) Some other combinations of involvement were not uncommon, but far less than the former two items.
