As the population of end-stage renal diseases increases gradually, renal transplantation has become a choice of renal replacement therapy. The survival gets significant improvements due to advances in surgical technique and immunosuppressive drugs. Metabolic alteration, the protein catabolism, energy consumption, body fluid and electrolyte imbalance frequently occur. Further, hypertension, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and other abnormalities result from immunosuppressant consequently follows. It is essential to provide adequate nutrition support. However, we should pay attention to interaction between foods and immunosuppressant. We will discuss about nutritional care after renal transplantation.
