Papilla preservation technique is one of periodontal flaps. This technique is useful in the interdental area for preservation of interdental papilla tissue. Besides, its healing pattern belongs to primary closure which prevents bone graft from falling out after periodontal surgery. Postsurgical gingival recession of this technique is minimal compared to conventional periodontal flap. Recently, a modified papilla preservation technique has been reported for guided tissue regeneration. For esthetic reason, this technique has its special role in the periodontal treatment.
