在理工大學,通識教育藝術課程最基本的目標,是在培養大學生對於美感經驗的瞭解,與增進美的感受能力,並進一步得以運用審美能力在較實際的專業層次上,例如工業設計與工程規劃等,最終目的是在藉由藝術欣賞擴大學生的世界觀。課程內容希望能結合基本的藝術欣賞原則,介紹創作的媒材、內涵、創作之時代背景及在藝術史上的意義。在課程規劃上,儘可能在每學期或學年提供藝術概論入門課程,其它專史或主題式課程,只要符合通識教育的精神亦可做為選擇。文末並提出一些技術上的考量做參考。
In science and technology-based universities, the basic objective for designing art curriculum of general education is to cultivate the art experience of college students and to improve their ability in appreciating art. Furthermore, students can develop and expand their views towards the world as a whole. Curriculum contents of general education in art should follow basic principles of art appreciation, including introductions to art materials/art media, their implications, background information and their meanings in art history. While planning for art curriculum, science and technology-based universities should try to provide introductory or basic courses every semester or calendar year. Other alternative art courses should also follow the basic principles in designing general education curriculum. At the end of this article, some considerations concerning combining possible resources are also discussed.
