淡江大學通識教育改革之路-核心課程方案的實施、問題與展望

The Way of Reforming General education-The Practice, Difficulties and Prospects of the Core Curriculum at Tamkang University

摘要


本論文係作者在淡江大學從事通識教育政革,推動核心課程方案,實際建構組織制度並執行任務之所思、所見、所行的記述。 內容主要包括五個部份,一是簡述她對通識教育與核心課程的體認,其次是介紹有關推動核心課程方案的理念、組織、開課審查、選課制度、教學評量功能、鼓勵教科書的編撰、各項溝通活動,以及所觀察到的氣氣與情勢轉變。第三部份是陳述改革過程所遭逢的各種問題及解決方法,包括組織、課程規劃、選課排課等。第四則舉兩個學門課程規劃的實施與問題的實例。最後則期待持續努力做各項準備工作以邁向全面開放選修的近期目標。

Since August, 1992 Tamkang University has been undertaking a comprehensive reform of the curriculum in order to upgrade her instructional quality and keep up with the ever-changing society. The core curriculum program thus designed is required for student to graduate from TKU. In this paper, the author, TKU Division Head of General Education and Core Curriculum, states the rationale and all the practical aspects of the core-curriculum program. This paper is divided into five sections. The author first presents her cognition about general education and core curriculum. Then, she introduces the rationale, organization, courses offering sensor system, course arrangement, instructional assessment, textbook editing , enhancing and communicating activities, the observation of the institutional climate, etc. In the third part, she describes the problems of putting the reform onto practice and solutions that have evolved along the way to establish the whole system and to achieve better efficacy. In the fourth, she illustrates two major subjects: ”Appreciation of Literature and Arts” and ”Chinese Language” to explain what problems they encountered in the reforming process. Finally, she explicated the preparation required to achieve free and open selection of all core courses.
