Theory should be combined with practice. An unattainable aspiration will just have to remain a fantasy. Although many educators in Taiwan emphasize the importance of ”general education,” the ideal of ”general education” has not yet been realized. The lack of unified definition and the lack .of definite goal of ”general education” hinder the realization of the educators' ideal. The objective of this article is to solve such problem. The author argues that the improvement of faculty quality is the most important factor in realizing of this ideal. The ”general education system” of Nanhua Management College has special experiences in improving the quality of teachers. And such experiences can provide other universities with references
