生死學與通識教育

Life-and -death Studies and General Education

摘要


本文的目的在於提出通識教育理念與課程設計之間如何相應的問題;並以生死學作為一個範例,看兩者之間應如何才能相應,為了達成這個目標,我們先探討生死學的意義與主要課題,認確立生死學的學問性質與特色。其次,探討通識教育的理念與課程設計的特質,看何種條件的課程才能成為具有通識特質的課程。最後,我們從通識領域的重新劃分,以人為中心,提出四個相關關係領域,作為通識課程設計的第一個條件,以供「觀」與抉擇能力作為通識課程設計的第二個條件,指出生死學完全符合通識課程設計的原則,點出兩者具有內在必然的關聯,適合成為通識教育典型課程之一,作為其他相關課程設計的參考。

With the example of Life-and-death studies, this paper is to explore how general education and course design correspond with each other. First of all, we discuss the meaning and major topics of Life-and-death studies, make clear its nature and characteristics as a academic field. Second, discussing the ideal of general education and essences of course design, we further analyze the requirements of courses to b regarded as general education proper. Finally, re-grouping the field of general education, with human as the center- the first requirement of course design of general education., we propose 4 related fields. The second requirement of course design of general education is being able to provide ”viewing” and the ability to make crucial decision. This paper points out that Life-and-death studies well correspond to the principles of course design of general education. Furthermore, it indicates they are intrinsically related, and therefore suitable for typical general education, and reference to design of relevant course.
