本研究以內容分析、深度訪談和焦點團體等多元方法探討大學通識教育中的「兩性關係」與性別相關課程。藉著把焦點放在師資、教材、和教學策略上,研究發現此類課有許多和通識教育類似的特色。多元性、異質性開放和民主性等特色,似乎都是由性別相關課程的短暫歷史(和欠缺實際操作經驗)而來。在結論中,我們提出了: 一、開設此類課程的老師必須自身有受過性別教育和相關訓練的背景。 二、國家必須提供經仔細設計後的課程,以便讓開課老師都能有兩性平等意識。 三、在各級學校中都以其不同的特性而設計課程,理想上的終極目標是讓所有的科目中都有兩性平等的觀念。 四、資助國內學者從事更寬廣的多面向研究,從以不同的學校階段、特質、性別比例和師資以做不同的課程設計。 五、鼓勵教師進行性別相關課程的跨文化比較、和歷史研究,以便借鏡其他國家的發展經驗。 六、吸引更多的男性教師接受性別相關課程的洗禮、促進包含兩性的性別研究和推動兩性都能得利的平等教育。 等六項的建議。
Using content analysis, in-depth interview and focus group, this study explore the general situations of ”Gender Relations” and other gender related courses in university's general education. Focusing on teacher qualification, texts, and teaching strategies, we found these courses share many similarities with general education in that both are pluralistic, heterogeneous, open-minded and democratic. The above characteristics seem all result from the short history and lacking operational experiences of such courses. We present six suggestions for the revision and improvement of gender related courses in university: 1. Teachers have to be trained in gender equal courses; 2. Design courses aimed at gender-equity from the macro (e.g., governmental or state) level; 3. dissolve the message of gender equality into all courses at all levels; 4. Sponsoring extensive research programs in local situations; 5. Ecnouraging cross-cultural and historical study of such courses to learn and promote international exchanges; and 6. Inspiring more male faculty to take gender related courses and be able to promote gender equal education.
