專業倫理與道德教育的共同基礎:必靈的覺醒

On the Common Ground of Professional Ethics and Moral Education

摘要


本文論證專業倫理與道德教育的共同基礎,在於喚醒受教育者的心靈的覺醒。在第一節引言之後,本文第二節先探討提昇專業倫理與道德教育的兩種途徑,指出形式的途徑只觸及技術層面,所發揮的教育作用是短期的、可隨知識累積而改善的;本質性的途徑則是經由心靈的喚醒而進行的倫理與道德教育,其影響是浸透身心的、長遠的、不因客觀情境而改變的。本文第三節分別從普遍與特殊兩個層面,論證專業倫理與道德教育之所以必須以「心靈的喚醒」為其基礎的理由。本文第四節則針對兩種可能的質疑提出回應,指出認為「以心靈的覺醒作為倫理及道德教育之基礎,實係一種化約論的謬誤」的人,對於我們的教育主張有所誤會;也指出認為「心靈覺醒論者犯了一種整體論的謬誤」的人,實未能掌握今日臺灣教育改革的關鍵問題。本文第五節進一步論述喚醒心的覺醒的兩種教育方法:一是典範的學習,二是經典的研讀。第六節則綜合全文論述,提出結論。

The present paper attempts at an analysis of the common ground of professional ethics and moral education. It is argued that both of these two types of education must be directed to the awakening of the mind of students. The second section indicates that the awakening of the mind is more substantial than the formalistic indoctrination. The mind section argues that all sorts of education aim at enlightening of the students' mind. The fourth section is devoted to a rebuttal against the two possible criticisms to our thesis. The fifth section, moreover, argues that learning the models of the ”paradigmatic individuals” and reading of the major classics, East and West, are two effective ways leading toward the awakening of the students' mind.
