本文譯自Craig C. Howard所著《通識教育理論:一個批判的進路》(Theories of General Education: A Critical Approach)一書第三章。此間透過哈柏瑪斯(Jurgen Habermas)的批判理論,提出了「通識教育的批判理論」,為美國高等教育之通識教育改革,提供一個批判與反省之道。

This article is a translation from the chapter 3 of ”Theories of General Education. A Critical Approach” (Craig C. Howard, 1990). Through the 'critical method' of Harbmas, Howard establishes 'a critical theory of General Education' to provide a suggestion for American recent revolution of general education.
