正色立朝的賢相·陳後卿-兼評宋孝宗的用人

The Stern, Serious & Virtuous Minister-With Discussion on Sung Hsiao Tsung's Employing Persons and Administration

摘要


宋孝宗是南宋第二代君主,也是南宋朝最有作爲的皇帝,尤其乾道、淳熙年間,更是南宋的全盛時代,明君賢臣,相得益彰,人才濟濟,號稱「小元祐」。史稱「孝宗之賢,聰明英毅,卓爲南渡諸帝之稱首」。而陳俊卿又是此時期賢臣中的佼佼者,方其拜相,「正色危論」,以「用人爲已任」,極爲留心時政。其爲人剛正不阿,正色立言,忌惡如仇,有人才必薦而用之,遇奸邪務去而快之。在政壇多年,充分展現愛才、惜才、擢才的作為,在廟堂之上,忠於君王,忠於朝廷,勤於政事,愛護百姓的心情與舉措,令人欽佩與感動。 然而在陳俊卿與孝宗互動過程中,從相關史料裏發現,寧孝宗雖爲南宋最賢能的君王,雖然地他的表現確實很傑出,但他的用人方面卻有若幹缺失,因此藉著探討君臣二人間的互動,對孝宗的識人與用人有所批判。所謂賢君,並非沒有缺點,只是斬較有作爲而已。

Sung Hsiao Tsung is the emperor of the second generation and the most capable one in Southern Sung Dynasty, especially in the year of Chien Tao and Chun Hsi, which is the most prosperous time of Southern Sung with wise emperor and many many virtuous ministers around, so was called “Hsiao Yuan Yu”. Therefore, the history said that the bright and brave emperor Hsiao Tsung was eminently the first of the emperors moving to the South. While Chen Chun-Ching was also the most outstanding virtuous minister of this period, as he was in the position of prime minister, he was always stern, serious and thoughtful of danger, strongly responsible for appointing and employing capable and talented persons and very care about the politics at that time. He was tough, just, honest, serious, loved to recommend the capable & talented persons and get rid of the crafty and cunning. He has fully shown to love, cherish and promote those capable in the political field for many years, while in the court, he was loyal to the emperor and the court and diligent to settle political affairs, his love and action to the people was really moved and admired by us. In the interaction between Chen Chun-Ching and Hsiao Tsung, we can dis cover from the related historical material that even though Sung Hsiao Tsung really had outstanding performance and was the most capable and virtuous emperor in Southern Sung, he still had some defects in employing persons. Therefore, we hereby explore the interaction between the emperor and the minister and also have discussion on Hsiao Tsung’s knowing and employing persons. The so-called virtuous emperor was not faultless, but just more capable only.
