This essay is a preliminary ethnographical analysis of Bunun Junior High School students in Nantou County under the impact of multicultural education. By observing how the school applies national curriculum and organize its teaching activities, the essay tries to examine the effect of Grade1-9 Integrated Activity Curriculum on indigenous students and its impact on indigenous culture. This essay will allow us to evaluate if the national curriculum has delivered the idea of multiculturalism as it is specified in the constitution. The essay also examines if local culture education, which is one of the foci of Grade 1-9 Integrated Activity Curriculum, has contributed to the development of indigenous culture, which is Bunun culture in this research. In addition, it seeks to point out the possible solutions which can resolve the conflicts and contradictions between the ethnic identity and national integrity.
