Liu Yong, a great poet in the Song Dynasty, was the first person that wrote Ci poems. However, critics in the different times have had diverse views about Liu Yong's Ci poems. On one hand, as far as art technique of poetry is concerned, people praised and admired him so much since Liu Yong dealt with his Ci poems with a clear, detailed, gentle and pleasant style. On the other, many people thought Liu Yong's Ci poems were too vulgar to be of great value. In terms of those different views about Liu Yong's Ci poems and in great respect and admiration for his achievement of mixing the elegance and vulgar in his poems perfectly, I try to explore whether they were reasonable about their criticism of Liu Yong's Ci poems and to do justice to their opinions.
