Tang poetry is a wonderful work in Chinese poetry history. It is not only the praiseworthy and emulable object of later literati, but also is the basic chanting material for children. Ching Dynasty Heng-tang tui-shi picked the essence of Tang poetry to compile ”300 Tang poems” and became an important enlightenment book. The article attempts to investigate the feasibility and application of Tang poetry as reading material in primary school. In this article, the educational value of poetry includes four aspects: promoting language ability, aiding appreciation of the beauty ability, cultivating emotion and will, understand Chinese culture. Tang poetry teaching includes three parts: appreciation teaching, chant teaching, extended application teaching. The practical pattern can be taught from four directions: systematical teaching, communication teaching, curriculum integration teaching and school-based curriculum. The information technology develops rapidly nowadays, Tang poetry teaching could combine media teaching through the application of network resources to expand the field of learning and to raise the interest of students.
