To a patient undergoing nasal surgery, nasal packing always has been an uncomfortable experience. It usually induces symptoms and signs of hypoventilation, dysphagia, Toynbee phenomenon, dry mouth, headache and insomnia, etc. The advantages of the insertion of the nasal ventilation tube were evaluated in 32 patients who underwent nasal surgeries and received nasal packings. Particular attention was paid to the postoperative conditions, including breathing type, sleeping, effects of artificial occlusion of the tube, Toynbee phenomenon, and other annoying symptoms. This study suggested that the cost-effective procedure was proven to be excellent in the relief of the symptoms and signs of a nose-packed patient.
