A Heuristic Algorithm for Order-up-to Inventory Policy under Unreliable Material Supply

A serial supply chain system utilizing an order-up-to level inventory policy is investigated using simulation in this research, to examine the customer fill rate and overall cost of the chain against uncertainty in material supply. A multi-site order-up-to level policy is proposed to tackle low material supply and demand fluctuation. Simulation outcomes show that the proposed order-up-to level policy performs robustly from the perspectives of cost reduction and customer satisfaction improvement.
