We reviewed sixty-three patients with digital replantation and revascularization, involving 96 digits, performed at National Cheng-Kung University Hospital from August, 1990 to August, 1992. The overall success rate of digital replantation and revascularization in this series is 90.6% (96 digits were replanted or revascularized, 87 digits have survived). 61 digits were followed up for more than 6 months to complete a functional evaluation by Tamai's scoring system. Of 61 digits, 59 (96.7%) have achieved good to excellent functional results. We feel that the improvement of survival and functional result are due to careful selection of patients, meticulous replantation technique and aggressive postoperative rehabilitation.
