Schwannoma is a benign, slow-growing neoplasm rarely found in the pancreas. We report a case of benign pancreatic schwannoma arising from the pancreatic head that mimicked a malignant cystic pancreatic neoplasm, and review the English-language literature. The diagnosis was based on the preoperative CT scan findings and intra-operative frozen section. Simple enucleation from the surrounding pancreatic parenchyma was performed and the patient remained well and symptom-free after 42 months of follow up. We conclude that simple tumor enucleation is an adequate treatment for pancreatic schwannoma.
