Political trust is a hot research field in contemporary political circles. However, in the vast literature, there are few studies on the relevance of political trust with national identity as an independent variable. In this paper, we use the survey data of World Values Survey (WVS) in 2012 of mainland China, and divides national identity into two dimensions of national pride and national sense of belonging. By constructing multiple linear regression models, the importance of national identity in shaping political trust of residents is revealed in the context of controlling other variables. It plays an important role in enhancing the political trust of our people and strengthening political legitimacy.
