Among the issues related to global aging, the impact of aging on cognitive function is attracting attention. The influence of exercise on the cognitive function of the brain is even more obvious. The purpose of this research is to explore the effect of multicomponent exercise on the cognitive function of community-dwelling elderly. A total of 33 seniors with an average age of 73.76±7.33 years old participated in this study. They performed eight physical fitness tests: body composition, 30s arm curl, 30s chair stand, seated forward bending, back scratch, time up-to-go, single leg stand, and 2-minute step, as well as taking the Cognitive Function Test (SWCT). Data were collected before the study, in the 12th week and in the 24th week. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson coefficient, and dependent one-way ANOVA. Results revealed a positive correlation between upper-body fitness and lower-body flexibility with cognitive function. Multi-sports can improve the basic and high-level cognitive functions of the elderly in the community. It is suggested that the elderly in the community exercise regularly in multi-sports courses with professional senior sports instructors, to allow them to successful aging with active health promotion strategies.
