In this study, a questionnaire has been administered to the 1993-1994 academic year English department students at the four levels at Chinese Culture University as to their responses of the current curriculum they are studying in. Several significant findings have been made: for example, 87.9% of the students polled feel slightly satisfied or dissatisfied with the current curriculm of the English department at CCU; 83.46% think that there should be more practically or occupationally oriented courses; 48.76% think that the literary and the practical concentrations should be divided in the future into two different sections of the English department, while 31.81% think both concentrations should co-exist and be equally emphasized: 62.8% agree that an English major should take a certain number of literary courses. The findings of this study should also serve as meaningful references for the curricular reform of the English departments in other universities in Taiwan.
