摘要

本文以成棒代表隊參加2004年雅典奧運會之前、中、後，媒體報導及評論為素材，輔以棒球學者專家論述，針對球評、球迷及新聞媒體發出的訊息作探討，接著根據涉入棒球運動的經驗，延伸探討結果，闡述棒球運動的發展取向，最後出示本文建議，盼本文對相關單位研擬未來棒球運動發展策略有所貢獻。

This article is based on media reports and comments on the performance of Taiwan's adult baseball team before, during and after its participation in the 2004 Athens Olympics. In this article, certain comments made by baseball professionals and experts on the opinions of baseball commentators, fans and mass media are discussed. Taiwan's baseball team's involvement in previous world baseball games is also reviewed to draw forth certain results that suggest the future direction of Taiwan's baseball. According to these results, several suggestions are made to hopefully provide the related authorities with ideas that can help shape their future strategies of developing the nation's baseball sport.
