摘要

筆者於一九八四年九月返國執教，曾多次觀察國內資訊工業進步的情形，本文想就政府力倡資訊工業以達成科技生根之策略，予以分析；其次，就繼續發展資訊工業與發展印刷尖端科技之相關性，做一比較。旨在強調：（一）身爲一個現代化的印刷業者，需要面對新科技的挑戰，從強化介業觀念著手，考慮電腦化印刷設備之引進，充分發揮國內培植的印刷人材，擴大我們的印刷市場範圍；（二）我們要積極地去幫助政府科技主管瞭解「發展印刷尖端科技等於是繼續發展資訊工業」，進而給予印刷工業優惠及輔助，使印刷工業也得以升級，

The healthy growth and development of the computer and information industry in Taiwan are reviewed. Computer products and their peripherals are selling very well in both domestic and foreign markets. The synergistic effect is observed when the government and the private sector of the information industry are working together.
The printing industry has always been a very intimate part of the information industry ever since the invention of movable type some 500 years ago. Applications of computer in the printing technology have made a dramatic impact over how printed matters are reproduced over recent years. Printers need to understand the potential of computerized printing equipment such as electronic color scanner and page make-up system in order to take the advantages of marketing opportunities. Like the computer and information industry, printers in Taiwan need go after the same kind of relationship with the government if they desire prosperity (Author).
