從新加坡天福宮及福建會館演變觀察其所屬華文教育之發展

The Development of Tian Hock Keng Temple and Fujian Huay-Kuan, and Chinese Education in Singapore

摘要


研究新加坡華人歷史,我們必須觸及新華社會的「幫權政治」。「幫」是一個方言群,具有濃厚的地緣性和業緣性,偶爾還有血緣性附著。在當時的社會中,福建幫人數眾多,而且財富雄厚,因此一直處於新華社會的領導地位。福建幫社群主要以漳、泉、永春集團為主,其在1827年建立漳泉公塚恒山亭作為總機構,1840年又建立天福宮於直洛亞逸街,福建幫總機構才移至天福宮,後來福建會館於1860年成立,附設於天福宮內,至此19世紀的新加坡福建幫結社之主線遂明朗化。本文以新加坡天福宮及福建會館為對象,觀察當地華人方言群如何透過廟宇與會館之宗教信仰與幫權政治去凝聚社群功能並配合國家方針。從天福宮到福建會館的發展過程中,無論是以「神權」或「幫權」或「社群」乃至「國家」為方針之階段,福建會館始終堅持「教育」(文化)和「服務」(慈善)兩項宗旨。1986年文化藝術團強調的情境式融入教學策略讓以華文習得為目標的學習者能在參與體驗的課程中不抗拒華語,並能感受華文文化之美,這是其堅持的「寓教於樂、育人為先」理念;而2013年開始推動「文化學院」是新加坡福建會館未來將華文教育視為終身學習目標,且是其落實華文教育「本地化」與「人文化」的藍圖規劃。

In this paper, we will research the Tian Hock Keng temple (天福宮) and Fujian Huay-Kuan (福建會館) in Singapore, in order to observe how local Chinese dialect groups work to bring their communities closer together and coordinate with national policies by traditional temples and Huay-Kuan. After completing our research, we found that the leaders of Tian Hock Keng temple and Fujian Huay-Kuan have gone through several stages of change from theocracy to Bang (幫) authority, and from community to nation. The leaders of Fujian Huay-Kuan always insist on two purposes: "Education, Culture"and"Service, Charitable". Since 1986, the Culture Troupe of Fujian Huay-Kuan has emphasized situational teaching strategies; people who want to learn Chinese can participate in the courses to enjoy the pure beauty of Chinese culture. In 2013, Fujian Huay-Kuan started to promote the College of Culture and tried to set up Chinese education as a lifelong learning goal. We are sure that the College of Culture will implement localizable and humane aims of Chinese education in Singapore.
