The process of exchange between Minnan and Vietnam can be traced back to the time of some immigration. In this paper, we attempt to focus on the immigrant family of Vietnamese famous envoy Lý Văn Phúc (1785~1849). We will illustrate the story of Lý Văn Phúc's ancestors Lý Khăc Liêm and his younger brothers Lý Ngã Bích, Lý Khăc Qúy who immigrated to Vietnam from Minnan in the late Ming and early Qing. At the same time, we will also present the special journey from Vietnam to Minnan of Lý Văn Phúc in 1831. The two journeys were well written in Lý Văn Phúc's Genealogy of the Lý Family (Lý Thi Gia Phô) and Poems on the Way to Min (Mân hành thi thoai), which reflect the valuable images of the relationship and exchange between Minnan and Vietnam.
