In connecting two separate spaces from underground and also regarded as a part of the city's memory, underground passage plays a significant role. Nevertheless, such corner often fails to provide a comfortable walking atmosphere due to the flaw of designing, using, and managing, forming a gloomy section of the city. Underground passage reflects the intermediary of urban space, showing various features of the city. Different environmental districts and users form different experiences in its space. This study, targeting three different characters of underground passage in Tainan City, attempts to find out the substantial influencing factors, commonly faced problems, and distinctions through observing the environment and behaviors of our human beings. Consequently, having various installing standards and regional characteristics in the designing norms of underground passage is what this study takes notice of. Then, is the discussion of how to maintain the quality in usage, management, and preservation of underground passage, bringing its function into full play.
