The ranula is a clinical term for a pseudocyst that is associated with mucus extravasation into the surrounding soft tissues. It occurs on the floor of the mouth and usually involves the major salivary glands especially sublingual gland. It divided into 2 types: oral ranula and cervical or plunging ranula by using mylohyoid muscle as the boundary. Plunging ranula is extent through the mylohyoid muscle. The treatment modality of plunging ranula is controversial and marsupialization of the lesion often leads to recurrence. We report a case of 32-year-old female who's chief complaint is swelling on left side of the floor of the mouth and submandibular area for 3 years which had been diagnosed as a ranula. The magnetic resonance imaging was performed and the image showed the plunging ranula involved to left submandibular space. After performing sialoadenectomy of left sublingual gland and excision of ranula, the patient discharge without any complication. No recurrence of the lesion was noted during the postoperative follow-up period.
