Schwannoma of the Tongue- Case Report and Review of the Literature

摘要

Schwannoma is a rare benign tumor. Approximately 25-45% of the schwannoma arise in the head and neck region, but only 1% occur in the oral cavity. Intraoral schwannoma most commonly origin from the tongue and floor of mouth. The clinical appearance is a slow-growing painless mass, and surgical excision is the main treatment modality. The rate of recurrence and malignant transformation are both low. We present a case of all-year-old male who had a submucous soft tissue lesion at anterior two-third of the tongue. He underwent surgical excision, and the pathologic report showed schwannoma. The wound healed well without recurrence at post-operative 15 months follow-up. Here, we report a case of schwannoma of the tongue and review the published literature.

許旺氏細胞瘤為一種罕見的良性腫瘤，約莫25 % ~ 45%發生於頭頸部，其中大約1 %發生在口腔內，口腔內又以舌頭及口底最為常見。其臨床表徵主要為緩慢生長的無痛腫塊，目前的治療方式以手術切除為主，復發率及惡性轉變率低。本病例報告為一11歲男性病人發現右側舌頭前緣有一黏膜下腫塊並接受手術治療，依照病理學檢查診斷為許旺氏細胞瘤。術後傷口建合良好，在術後追蹤15個月並無復發。本文提出此一病例報告並回顧文獻及討論。
